Camila Marambio (Chile), Stefan Mitterer and Karolin Tampere (Norway) invited me to participate in Life is All About Taking This In and Putting Things Out. They asked me to do a do a talk about a piece by another artist that I would have liked to have made myself. Fake Estates by Gordon Matta-Clark, was my immediate answer. To explain why, I created a talk-map that consisted of two superimposed timelines tracing our careers year by year from 1968/1998 to 1978/2008. I examined Fake Estates in relationship to his complete body of work, his life, and other specific pieces. Then I examined my timeline, pointing to the relationships and correspondences with Matta-Clark's, evidencing his influence in my work.
